2007 Charitable Events

THINK PINK!

In 2005, participants in the State Amateur helped to raised $705 for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. We continued our participation in 2006 and will do the same in 2007. The Rally For A Cure® Event (closest to the hole) on Hole # 16 at Miller Memorial Golf Course will be held on Sunday, June 24 during the practice round.

Many in the Association have been affected by breast cancer...we have breast cancer survivors as well as women who have family members and friends who have had breast cancer. This event is to honor these women as well to heighten awareness of breast cancer prevention and to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. 100% of the proceeds from this event will go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

For more than 20 years, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation has been a global leader in the fight against breast cancer through its support of innovative research and community-based outreach programs. Working through a network of U.S. and international Affiliates and events like the Komen Race for the Cure®, the Komen Foundation is fighting to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by funding research grants and supporting education, screening and treatment projects in communities around the world. For more information, please visit the Komen Foundation on-line or mail to 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, Texas 75244.

To register for our Rally For A Cure®, please complete the entry and send it with a check for $20.00 payable to the Rally For A Cure® to:
Judy Lyle, 104 South 9th Street, Murray, KY 42071-2429.

Please do not mail entries and money after June 11. After the mailing deadline, if you would like to participate, you may enter during registration. *We would like to encourage everyone participating in this event to wear pink during their practice round.

Each Rally participant is entitled to a one-year subscription to Golf for Women magazine. The Rally participants will receive other gifts.

"On the Green...Get a Ball"

Hole # 16 has been designated our "Rally" hole. If the ball from the participant's first swing off the tee stays on the green, the player will be awarded an individually boxed Titleist® pink ribbon golf ball.

The player who is closest to the hole at the end of the day will win a special prize. This prize will be announced on Tuesday June 26 during the banquet.

Golf House Kentucky

The Women's Kentucky State Golf Association will host the fourth annual Better Ball Tournament on Sunday, June 24 during the practice round for the State Amateur Championship. The purpose of the Better Ball Tournament is to raise money for the Kentucky Golf Foundation - specifically for Golf House Kentucky. The Golf House is the home for the KGA-PGA administrative offices and the Kentucky Golf Hall of Fame. The WKSGA will have a presence in the Golf House.

Cost: $10 per person / $20 per team to be paid with entry fee.

GAME & RULES : Low Gross and Low Net Prizes will be awarded using 1/4 of combined handicap for low net calculation.

  • Open to all participants in the State Amateur Championship.
  • Open to non-participants who have an up-to-date handicap index (please send a copy).
  • If you do not have a partner and you want to play in this tournament, let Judy Lyle know when you send in your entry and she may be able to pair you with another person.
  • The teeing ground will be from the white WKSGA tee markers - EXCEPT – non-WKSGA tournament participants play from the teeing ground where they would normally establish their handicap.
  • The ball must be played down everywhere.
  • Since this is a tournament within a practice round - for the tournament, use the first ball hit only. That is, if you wish to hit another ball for practice, you cannot record that ball. HONOR SYSTEM!
  • Record gross score for each player on each hole on the Better Ball Scorecard provided.
  • Scorecard must be signed by both players and dated. Turn in cards to the pro shop after the conclusion of your round
  • Better Ball Tournament committee will go over scorecards and determine winners. In the event of a tie, there will be a scorecard playoff.
  • Winners will be announced at the Tuesday, June 26 Business Meeting.
  • In the event of a rainout, names of participants will be put in for a drawing for prizes. No money will be refunded.
