Women's Kentucky State Golf Association

2007 Team:

Mrs. Jessica Grace - Henderson,
Miss Morgan Cross - Elizabethtown, and
Miss Megan Moir - Louisville,
Alternate, Miss Krissy Martin - Louisville.

The USGA will host the 7th bi-annual Women’s State Team Championship September 18-20, 2007 at The Club at Carlton Woods, The Woodlands, TX.

In order to participate in the USGA State Team Championship you must fill out an application for selection found on the WKSGA website. The WKSGA will select a three person team based on the applications submitted prior to the deadline. A female wishing to submit an application must do so within accordance of the application guidelines as established by the WKSGA. Collegiate players are NOT eligible due to NCAA rules.

If you have any questions regarding this or other championships please check our website at www.wksga.org , www.usga.org or www.stateteam.org for further information.

WKSGA Selection Process:

Three women golfers will be chosen to represent the state of Kentucky.

Team members must be amateur golfers, female at birth, who are permanent residents of Kentucky. College players are restricted by the NCAA rules from participating.

The selection will be based on a player's performance in competitive events. To be considered for the 2007 team, a candidate must have played in at least one of the following:

  • 2004, 2005, 2006 Kentucky Senior Women's Amateur Championship
  • 2005, 2006, 2007 Women's Kentucky State Amateur Championship
  • 2005, 2006, 2007 Kentucky Women's Open

In order to be considered for one of the three spots on the team, a player must submit an application provided by the WKSGA. On the application, a player will list all tournaments that she played in from June 2004 through July 2007 and provide information about the length of the course and her score and finish in the tournament.

Tournament Format

The format is 54 holes of stroke play. The lowest two scores of each team shall count in each round. The team with the lowest score for 54 holes will be champion. Any tie will be played-off as follows:

  • Use the third player's score for the final round.
  • Use the third player's score for the second round.
  • Use the third player's score for the first round.
  • If still tied, joint winners will be declared.

If it is not possible to complete 54 holes of play in the period in which the Championship is scheduled, the Championship shall not be extended beyond the last scheduled day and the winner shall be the Team which returns the lowest score for the number of stipulated rounds played. The Committee may institute a cut in order to play the last stipulated round.

Expenses

Teams in the championship fall under Rule 4-2c of the Rules of Amateur Status. Each team may therefore accept a reasonalbe amount of expenses from its golf association. Before September 24, expenses may not be accepted for team practice anywhere. Receipts from each player must be submitted to the WKSGA Executive Secretary upon return from the Team Championship.
